Our
Story

Gavin and Amy first met as high school freshmen in 2015 at the county-wide science fair, though unbeknownst to each other at the time. Driven by curiosity, Amy couldn’t resist snooping around Gavin’s iPad-embedded poster board, while he was afar. As Gavin returned to his project, Amy quickly slipped away, embarrassed to be seen meddling with his work.

Two years later, Gavin and Amy crossed paths again on their first day of Dr. Woo’s physics class, finding themselves randomly assigned as desk mates. A close friendship quickly developed, and by the time senior year began, it had blossomed into something more. Gavin and Amy spent their unforgettable senior year together, filled with laughter, late-night conversations, and shared dreams, before they began a long-distance relationship — one in sunny California and the other in lively New York.

After countless phone calls and frequent visits, their 4.5 years of long-distance came to an end in late 2023. Gavin’s excitement to be reunited with Amy was so overwhelming that, the day she returned, he dropped to one knee and proposed. Under the pretense of a casual breakfast by the water, Gavin led Amy to the beautiful York River. As they casually strolled along the historic landmarks, Gavin asked Amy to spend forever with him.

Having moved across the country together, welcomed their mischievous pup Waffles, and recently become homeowners, Gavin and Amy are so excited to begin this new chapter of their lives as husband and wife!

Hotels

While Camarillo is beautiful, hotel options are limited in the area. Depending on the scenery you're looking for, there are a lot of options nearby. If you're looking for a mountainous view, both Simi Valley and Moorpark have multiple great hotel options. Those seeking a more coastal experience may enjoy Ventura or Santa Barabara. For nicer resorts, we recommend looking in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks. We would recommend against staying in Los Angeles.

Travel

Camarillo is about 50 miles from downtown Los Angeles, making transportation fairly easy. If you're driving, the 101 will take you almost directly to our beautiful venue. For family and friends flying into Southern California, we recommend flying into Burbank (BUR), Santa Barbara (SBA), or Los Angeles (LAX).

Activities

The greater Los Angeles area has activities for everybody. Some of our favorites include The Getty, Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios, and the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. If you're looking for some specific recommendations, feel free to reach out to the bride and groom!

FAQ

What's the timeline of the wedding?

Our ceremony will begin promptly at 6pm on Monday. Please arrive early as we will not be able to accommodate those who arrive late. We expect cocktail hour to begin around 6:30pm.

What is the dress code?

We kindly request you adhere to a "Garden Party Formal" dress code. Additionally, we ask that neither you nor your guests wear red or any shade of white. Our ceremony will take place outside with an indoor reception to follow; therefore, please dress appropriately for the weather. If you need inspiration, take a look at our Pintrest board!

What food will be available?

Although our final menu is not available in advance, we will serve hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a full buffet with multiple entrees and sides suited for many dietary restrictions.

What weather should I expect?

While we can't promise anything, SoCal tends to be fairly warm this time of year and rain is uncommon. Although our reception will be indoors, our ceremony will take place outdoors, so please dress appropriately.

Am I permitted to bring a guest?

Unless included on your personalized invitation, we kindly ask you do not bring any uninvited guests. Due to the small, intimate nature of our celebration, we will be unable to accommodate those who were not formally invited.

Is transportation provided?

We are not providing formal transportation for our events. However, there is ample parking at our venue and if transportation poses a concern, please reach out and we can help coordinate those who wish to ride together.

How will we be updated on any changes?

When you RSVP, we kindly request you provide your phone number. By doing so, you agree for us to send you automated texts to keep you apprised of the events scheduled. We'll keep you up-to-date with any changes and reminders for our special day!
